Aggregation: how the Wolfram model weaves the future
I had to listen to this latest excerpt from my conversation with Stephen Wolfram many times over before I understood the profound proposal he makes at the end of it.
I was familiar with the concept that the observer equivalences many different states and experiences the aggregate of these states. In other words, the observer weaves many different paths through the multiway graph into a single timeline.
But in this excerpt, Stephen is proposing that this process of aggregation of possible paths through the multiway graph is performed not only by observers, but by the universe itself. In other words, the universe itself aggregates possible paths through the multiway graph to weave the future.
It’s going to take me a while to think through the implications of this idea.
Let me know what you think!
